Bangladesh men's football teams will experience a busy few months up ahead after two Tier 1 international friendlies were scheduled for the September 4-12 FIFA window, the opposition of which are likely to be Afghanistan, Myanmar or Nepal.
This was decided in Saturday's meeting of the National Teams Committee, chaired by Kazi Nabil Ahmed at Bangladesh Football Federation House.
BFF vice president Nabil said the opponent will be confirmed within the next few days and that Sylhet District Stadium has been earmarked as the possible venue.
The national camp will begin on August 20 ahead of the FIFA friendlies, which will serve as valuable preparation for the home and away clashes against the Maldives in the first round of the joint qualifiers of the 2026 FIFA World Cup and 2027 Asian Cup.
The first match will be played away in the Maldives on October 12 before the home game in Bangladesh on October 17, likely to be held in Sylhet.
Provided Bangladesh get past the Maldives, they will have Australia, Palestine and Lebanon in Group I of the second round of the joint qualifiers.
Sandwiched between the FIFA friendlies and pre-World Cup qualifiers, the Asian Games men's football event will take place from September 19 to October 7 where Bangladesh have been drawn in Group A alongside hosts China, neighbors India and Myanmar.
Named in the Asiad squad, the likes of Isa Faysal, Jamal Bhuiyan, Mohammad Ibrahim and Foysal Ahmed Fahim are likely to be engaged in all three assignments.
Then there is also the small matter of the AFC Under-23 Asian Cup 2024 Qualifiers, slated for September 4-12 this year in Thailand.
Prior to the qualifiers, the residential camp for the Bangladesh U-23 side will start in the first week of next month.
