Club, player pre-season contract not BFF’s headache

Bangladesh Football Federation categorically stated that it will not take any responsibility regarding the pre-season commitments of Bangladesh Premier League clubs and the players.

BFF president Kazi Salahuddin said the practice should be stopped and it is not a one way process. “In my opinion both the clubs and the players are guilty. They should maintain a standard, the clubs should not pay the players and if the players take some money in advance they should keep the commitment. In our playing days we kept our commitments to the clubs,” said Salahuddin.

“BFF will take no responsibility if the contract is not endorsed by BFF, the by-laws have it, and for sure if any club stops paying the players they can inform us. We will take the necessary steps to make the clubs pay the player,” informed the BFF president.

In the last few days Sheikh Russell and Mohammedan were locked in a tug of war regarding players like Zahid Hossain, Shakil Ahmed and Mamun Miah who all reportedly took money from Mohammedan, but later changed their mind to join Russell.

BFF senior vice-president Abdus Salam Murshedy has asked the clubs to sit and wipe out any complicacies, if any, before August 5.
