The Bangladesh U-16 national team had a flying start to their Saff U-16 Championship as they drubbed their Sri Lankan counterparts 3-1 in their Group B opener at the Army Ground in Kathmandu, Nepal yesterday. The win also confirmed a semi-final slot for Bangladesh.
Striker Tutul struck twice in the 28th and 57th minute while the other goal was netted by Torikul in the 81st minute. Niresh of Sri Lanka threatened Bangladesh with a 43rd minute strike, but Bangladesh held their nerves to win the match convincingly.
Bangladesh will play against India on Thursday to determine the group champions. India earlier thrashed Sri Lank 4-1.
