Bangladesh beat Cambodian club Tiffy Army in practice match

Bangladesh national football team edged past Cambodian top-tier club Tiffy Army 1-0 in a practice match in Phnom Penh Monday.

Sohel Rana netted the only goal of the game in the 12th minute.

Spanish head coach Javier Cabrera said after the match that they focused on defence “quite a lot” in training sessions which helped them keep the clean sheet.

“We know that especially in a short tournament like SAFF Championship it is crucial not to concede. That is one of the main objectives. The team know that they can't concede and it was the one of the main targets in the game plan,” Cabrera said.

Captain Jamal Bhuiyan said, “Overall it was a good match. We got many chances in the first half. It was not easy to play against them as they have three-four foreigners. It was a good test. The positive is we won the match and didn't concede any.”

The men in red and green are taking preparation for the SAFF Championship, scheduled to kick off in Bengaluru, India on June 21.

They will play a FIFA friendly against Cambodia national team this Thursday.
