Bangladesh experienced one of the most classic finals in its football history when Mohammedan beat arch-rivals Abahani 4-2 in penalty shootout after 120 minutes ended in an eight-goal thriller, and clinched the Federation Cup following a 14-year hiatus.
The gallery of Shaheed Dhirendranath Dutta Stadium in Comilla was almost half empty but those who were present would cherish the memory of the dramatic Dhaka Derby for a long time to come.
Malian striker Souleymane Diabate stole the show, scoring all four goals for the Black and Whites after the Sky Blues led the first half by two-nil margin.
Foysal Ahmed Fahim and Daniel Colindres netted two fine goals to put Abahani on the driving seat at the break, but Diabate spoiled the mood soon afterwards.
Emeka Ogbugh set up Fahim for a left-footed finish just after the quarter-hour mark before Colindres doubled the lead after two delightful touches followed by a curved finish into the far post.
Colindres, the Costa Rican World Cupper, also had a powerful long-ranger tipped away by Mohammedan goalkeeper Sujan Biswas in added time.
Mohammedan came back more organized and aggressive after resumption as Diabate made it all square in the span of only four minutes at the hour-mark.
He first volleyed home after a long ball had deflected off inside the box before his glancing header from a Jafar Iqbal cross trembled the net.
Emeka's header hitting the woodwork five minutes later made the final even more exciting while the goal from the Nigerian striker only added to the excitement.

Diabate equalized the margin again in the 83rd minute as he headed home a corner from the top of the six-yard box to send the game into extra time where Sujan made two brilliant saves at the beginning.
Mohammedan took the lead for the first time in the second quarter after Diabate was brought down by Abahani custodian Shahidul Alam Sohel and the Malian made no mistake from the spot.
Perhaps the best goal of the game came through the right foot of defender Rahmat Mia who made it 4-4 three minutes before the final extra-time whistle with a screamer from around 25 yards out.
By this time, Mohammedan had to replace injured Sujan for Ahsan Habib Bipu in between the sticks.
Diabate converted the first attempt in the tiebreaker but Brazilian midfielder Raphael Augusto missed Abahani's opening shot.
Then, the two sides had two successful shootouts each before Sohel denied Shahriar Emon's effort to add more thrills to the sensational final.
But Abahani could not capitalize the opportunity as Colindres saw his attempt saved by Bipu before Kamrul Islam sealed the memorable victory for the Motijheel outfit in ecstatic style.
Mohammedan have not won a major trophy since their Independence Cup triumph in 2014.
They had not reached the Federation Cup final for a long time.
The last time they did, they became champions beating the same opposition in tiebreaker 14 years ago.
