Bangladesh to play Cambodia away as part of SAFF preparation

Bangladesh will play a FIFA international friendly match away to Cambodia on June 15 as part of their preparation for the SAFF Championship, scheduled to be held later next month.

Bangladesh Football Federation vice president and national team committee chairman Kazi Nabil Ahmed told this to reporters after a meeting at the BFF House Sunday.

"We talked to few federations and finally arranged a friendly match against Cambodia on June 15 during the FIFA window. We will have a few days' training in Cambodia,” said Nabil after the national team committee meeting.

The SAFF Championship, the biggest football competition of South Asia, will take place from June 21 to July 4 in Bangalore, India.

Nabil informed that the residential training camp will begin a day after the Bangladesh Premier League takes a break on June 3.

The initial camp will be held at Bashundhara Kings Arena.

He believes that the inclusion of Kuwait makes the SAFF Championship more challenging.

"India are very strong, Kuwait are strong. We have told the coach (Javier Cabrera) that this is the most important competition for us this year," Nabil added.

After leaving Cambodia, Bangladesh will fly straight to Bangalore on June 16.
