Bangladesh to play closed-door friendly with Malawi in Saudi Arabia

Bangladesh football team will play a closed-door practice match against Malawi national team in Saudi Arabia Wednesday, ahead of the upcoming Tri Nation Cup 2023 at home later this month.

Kazi Nabil Ahmed, chairman of the national team committee and Bangladesh Football Federation's vice-president, informed this to reporters Thursday.

A 35-member Bangladesh contingent is currently in Medina for preparation camp.

Nabil also said they will play another closed-door friendly against Ohod Club Saturday.

Medina-based Ohod compete in the first division league of Saudi Arabia where they currently sit 12th in the table.

Malawi are ranked 124th in the latest Fifa rankings.

Malawi team are also holding conditioning camp in Saudi Arabia.

“As it is a preparation match, it will be closed-door. Hope our boys will play well and prepare themselves before the tri-nation tournament,” said team manager Iqbal Hossain through a video message.

“The full team trained in Medina last two days. Fantastic weather here. Facilities and everything are okay.”

Meanwhile, Jamal Bhuiyan and Co will play two Fifa friendlies against Brunei and Seychelles in Sylhet in the next international window from March 22 to 28.
