Argentina coach Lionel Scaloni Friday said he feels proud of the fans across Bangladesh who show continuous support for his team, and thanked them during their pre-match press conference ahead of the round-16 match against Australia in Qatar's capital.
Diego Korol from Argentine Radio station D Sports asked the head coach about his thoughts on the huge and crazy fanbase far away in Bangladesh after various footage and news of celebrations of Argentina fans from the South Asian country cheering on the team went viral across the globe.
"For many years now, with Diego (Maradona) with Leo (Lionel Messi) the jersey has always generated hysteria, for the colors, for the Argentine passion," said Scaloni.
"It fills us with pride that a country like Bangladesh supports Argentina," he added.
Messi and Co survived their early hiccup against Saudi Arabia in the opening match by coming back strongly to win back-to-back matches against Mexico and Poland to win the group.
"The Argentine fans always make themselves heard and when the stadium is 80 to 90% Argentines, you notice it more," Scaloni said.
"Hopefully it will be like the Poland match because that was like playing in Argentina."
