Super Cup fate to be decided tomorrow

The professional league committee of Bangladesh Football Federation (BFF) will hold a meeting tomorrow to decide the future of Super Cup. Alongside deciding the scope of holding the Super Cup, the meeting will also discuss the schedule of the transfer window for the next season and the quota of the foreign players in the league. The Super Cup has only been held twice in the last four years and BFF was prepared to hold the tourney this season, but duo to national team’s duty in early June, BFF had to reshuffle their plans. Bangladesh will play two friendly matches against India and Pakistan on June 1 and 8 respectively at the Craven Cottage in Fulham, London. The ongoing Bangladesh Premier League will end tomorrow and Dutch coach Lodewijk de Kruif is expected to arrive in Dhaka on May 15 and the national training camp will begin as soon as he takes charge. So there is very little hope for Super Cup in this month. On the other hand, it will be very expensive and hard for the local clubs to continue their camp until the national team returns. However, it was learnt that BFF is interested to hold the meet after the national team returns from London and the federation is also ready to provide the clubs with financial support. The champions’ money of the meet will not be Tk10m like it was before. This time, the champions will receive Tk2.5m while the total prize money is Tk5m.
