Japanese Kato raises Tk30 lakh for Muktijoddha Sangsad

Football players are the biggest source of income for a club and some even chose unusual avenues to support their club but the act of Muktijoddha Sangsad’sJapenese recruit Yusuke Kato is rare as he has collected at least Tk30 lakhs by initiating a charity.

The Bangladeshi outfit have been struggling over the last few years financially as the burden of the debts was getting unbearable and their Japanese captain took the onus upon himself to save his sinking side.

The Japanese footballer urged his countrymen through a video message to support his club and thus save the team which bear the name of freedom fighters of the land.

He also initiated to sell the club’s jersey to raise funds.

The club arranged a press conference to show their gratitude for the Japanese footballer.

Kato said, "Having seen my plea through the video message, many Japanese people came forward and donated. To clear the debts, the club needed a lot of money. That's why I started selling the club jersey. Many have paid double the price for a jersey; many have paid even more. In total, I have raised Tk30 lakhs for the club. In the future, I also want to support the club in this way"

Muktijoddha club manager Ariful Islam expressed club’s gratitude to their skipper. 

"From the very beginning of the season, he helped us in many aspects. He raised Tk30 lakhs for the club by selling our jersey, we are very grateful to him," said Ariful.
