The season opening Federation Cup has been pushed back by three days from its original kick off date and will instead begin on December 22, it was decided in a meeting of the Bangladesh Football Federation’s professional league committee Saturday.
The meeting was presided over by Abdus Salam Murshedy, MP, senior vice president of the BFF and also the chairman of the professional league committee.
A minute’s silence was observed before the meeting in remembrance of the passing away of football legend Diego Maradona and former Bangladesh footballer Badal Roy.

It was also confirmed in the meeting that Bashundhara Kings and Abahani Limited would represent Bangladesh in the AFC Cup 2021 by virtue of their league position in the last completed season.
The confirmation regarding the number of venues which would host the upcoming league was yet to come after Saturday’s meeting and Murshedy said it would be decided at a later date, keeping in mind the Covid-19 pandemic.
After some uncertainty in the Bangladesh Muktijoddha Sangsad Krira Chakra camp ahead of the new season, Murshedy assured that all sorts of assistance will be afforded to the club by BFF so that they take part in the league.
