The new domestic football season 2020-21 will kick off through the curtain raiser Federation Cup on December 19.
The transfer window has been set for November 1 to December 15 as the professional league committee of the Bangladesh Football Federation took these among other decisions after meeting the sub-committee of the Bangladesh Premier League 2020-21 Thursday.
It was earlier agreed by both clubs and players to keep last season’s squad unchanged in the upcoming season, but now the clubs can release the players they don’t want to retain by October 30, two days before the transfer window opens.
The committee also confirmed the number of foreign players’ quota to four, one short of last season.
All four players, including a quota for an Asian, can feature in a game.
The payment issue of the local players was discussed once again and it was finally decided that pending remuneration of the 2019-20 season will be paid in full, while a minimum of 35% remuneration on the basis of the contract of last season will be provided for the upcoming season.
“According to the discussions with the clubs and executive committee meeting we have decided to increase the remuneration from 25 to 35%,” said league committee chairman Abdus Salam Murshedy.
The players earlier proposed 50% while the clubs offered 20-25%.
The league committee had accepted the clubs’ proposal in the last meeting.
The venues of the upcoming premier league will be finalized in the next meeting.
“It is difficult to travel and hold matches at distant venues due to Covid-19 situation,” said Murshedy.
“We will consider some venues after discussing with the clubs. The venues will be finalized in the next meeting after the committee scrutinizes them.”
The committee primarily selected six venues - Bangabandhu National Stadium, Bangladesh Army Stadium, Shaheed Barkat Stadium in Gazipur, Mosleh Uddin Bhuiyan Stadium in Narsingdi, BKSP and Cumilla District Stadium - for observation.
