Infantino wishes Salahuddin on 66th birthday

Legendary former footballer and Bangladesh Football Federation president Kazi Salahuddin was showered with flowers and good wishes on his 66th birth anniversary, including one from the embattled Gianni Infantino Wednesday.

The Fifa president wrote a letter to the three-time BFF chief referring him as a friend.

It states, “On this 23rd of September, I wish you a very Happy Birthday. May this special day be filled with happiness and may we continue to work together for the future of this beautiful game that unites us all.

“I would like to take this opportunity to thank you for your efforts and for your contribution to the development of our sport and the promotion of its values in Bangladesh.

“I wish good health to you, your family, friends and loved ones, and I look forward to seeing you again very soon.”

AFC president Salman bin Ebrahim al Khalifa also conveyed his greeting in a separate letter.

It started with apologetic words for not able to accept invitation to attend the BFF Elective Congress 2020 on October 3 where Salahuddin will contend the poll for the president’s post for the fourth time in succession.

“I am also delighted to convey to you my heartfelt greetings and best wishes for a happy birthday.”

Salahuddin was born on this day in Dhaka in 1953.

He was a superstar footballer during his playing career.

He was also a Swadhin Bangla Football Team member, former national coach and is currently holding the Saff president’s post for the third time.
