BFF election schedule announced

The nomination forms for the upcoming Bangladesh Football Federation election, scheduled for October 3, will be distributed from Saturday. 

It was revealed during the announcement of elections schedule Thursday.

Mejbah Uddin, the chief election commissioner, announced the schedule at BFF House alongside two other commissioners Motaher Hossain Saju and Mostafizur Rahman Siddiki.

The candidates will have three days to collect the forms from BFF’s account department before submitting the papers Tuesday. 

Objection against candidate can be made the following day and nomination papers are to be scrutinized on September 11.

Candidates can withdraw their names by September 13, while on the same day the final list and ballot numbers are scheduled to be published.

The election is scheduled to be held at the capital’s Pan Pacific Sonargoan Hotel from 2pm to 6pm on October 3, followed by the Annual General Meeting. 

A total of 139 councillors are eligible to cast votes in order to form a 21-member committee for the next four years including president, senior vice-president, four vice-presidents and executive members.

Nomination form for president post will cost Tk1 lakh, Tk75,000 for senior VP, Tk50,000 for VP and Tk25,000 for Member.

Strict health safety measurement will be followed on the election day.

Election commissioner said any candidate, voter or anyone working at the venue with Covid-19 symptoms would not be allowed to enter.

The election was first scheduled to be held on April 20 but got postponed due to the pandemic.

Three-time BFF chief Kazi Salahuddin is currently uncontested in the race for president’s post after rival Saif Sporting Club chairman Tarafder Ruhul Amin decided to quit. 

It was learnt that some changes are likely in Salahuddin’s panel that includes three vice-president’s posts, and as many Member posts.
