Kings to begin AFC Cup practice camp

Bashundhara Kings will resume their residential training camp after some five months of pandemic time, ahead of their AFC Cup 2020 campaign, scheduled to restart in October.

Five players - Topu Barman, Matin Mia, Masuk Mia Jony, Atiqur Rahman Fahad and Mitul Hasan -  assistant coach SM Asifuzzaman and goalkeeping coach Nuruzzaman Nayan joined the club Monday night before giving samples for Covid-19 tests Tuesday, along with all the club staff.

Bayazid Alam Zubair Nipu, club’s head of strategy and planning, informed these and said the players will start training as soon as they get the Covid-19 reports negative.

The remaining players will join the camp through similar procedures from Saturday onwards.

Nipu, who also joined and did the test, informed that Spanish head coach Oscar Bruzon is scheduled to land in Dhaka Friday, while Argentine striker Hernan Barcos and new Brazilian signing Robinho Silva are expected to join in the first week of September.

Kings, the Federation Cup champion and 2018-19 BPL champion, resume their AFC Cup fixtures against Maziya Sports and Recreation Club of Maldives away in Male on October 23 in their second Group E match after beating TC Sports of Maldives 5-1 in their AFC Cup debut in March.
