BFF polls on October 3

Bangladesh Football Federation has decided to hold its much-awaited election and Annual General Meeting on October 3 at Pan Pacific Sonargaon Hotel in Dhaka.

The decision came from the executive committee meeting held at BFF House Tuesday presided by current president Kazi Salahuddin and participated by 13 members, and five virtually via Zoom.

BFF AGM was previously scheduled for April 30 but later got postponed due to Covid-19.

“Fifa advised us to hold the election when (Covid-19) situation gets normal,” briefed senior-vice president Abdus Salam Murshedy after the meeting, only a day after government allowed all sports activities to resume in limited scale.

“BFF has to send Fifa letter again for its approval. It has preliminary been decided to hold the AGM on October 3, 2020, taking permission from the Bangladesh government,” he added.

The list of 139 voting delegates was approved in the 19th meeting of the executive committee. 

BFF Auditors Report for 2019-20 and “rough budget for 2020-21 year (Tk 51,44,50,000)” were also approved, while Mizan and Co., an audit farm, was appointed as auditor.

Murshedy, also the chairman of the professional league committee, said they will sit for a meeting with the club representatives before taking decision regarding the 2020-21 football season as the previous season got called off after only five rounds of BPL fixtures.

Women’s Football League 2019-20, postponed after six rounds since March, will resume in November. 

It was also stated that one-third of the $1.5m Covid-19 Relief Fund from Fifa would be spent on women’s football.
