Infantino plans increasing tournaments in South Asia

Gianni Infantino said Fifa has plans to organize more tournaments in South Asia in order to increase the number of competitions in the region.

The Fifa president pledged this to the heads and representatives of the South Asian Football Federation and its associate members during a video conference Thursday.

“Infantino, the honorable Fifa president, talked about organizing more tournaments in a bid to increase football tournaments in South Asia in future,” stated a media release from Bangladesh Football Federation.

The virtual view-exchange meeting was joined by Asian Football Confederation president Salman bin Ibrahim al Khalifa, Saff and BFF president Kazi Salahuddin, Fifa councilor member Mahfuza Akter Kiron and presidents or representatives from seven Saff nations.

The update and progress of football in Saff countries were discussed, and gratitude was also expressed to the Fifa president for announcing “Fifa Covid-19 Relief Fund”, while Kiron drew Infantino’s attention to develop women’s football in the region.
