BFF reduces participation money of BPL clubs

The BFF has decided to reduce the participation money of the Bangladesh Premier Football League by a quarter. However, there was a 100% increase in prize money. The champion will now receive Tk two million, as opposed to Tk one million last season, while the runners-up will pocket Tk one million, which was Tk0.5m last year. And following earlier reports, the country’s football governing body also decided to go back to its old traditional system of holding premier league matches at only two venues – Bangabandhu National Stadium in Dhaka and MA Aziz Stadium in Chittagong. The number of match venues was five last season - Sylhet, Gopalganj and Mymensingh being the others, along with Dhaka and Chittagong. A meeting of the professional league committee was held at BFF House on Saturday afternoon where the decisions were taken. The committee also decided to defer the 2017 Walton Federation Cup final by a day. The grand finale will now be held on Tuesday instead of Monday. It was also confirmed that the top-flight league will kick off on June 12 this year.
