Fighting against the odds and prepare one’s capacity in the game is the common story of struggle and passion for Bangladeshi women footballers.
Henceforth, even in the dire time of corona, Bangladesh U-19 football team captain Mishrat Jahan Mousumi is able to keep her focus, and has been preparing for the forthcoming challenges.
With the global pandemic of Covid-19, all kinds of sporting activities of the country are postponed but Mousumi, who is staying with her parents at Savar currently, is trying her best to keep her fitness level high.
“I’m spending my whole time at home; just eating, sleeping and doing stretches. I don't go out much; trying to follow the health measures,” said Mousumi through a video chat to Bangladesh Football Federation for the media.
“It is very hard to maintain fitness at home because I don’t have enough space and any gym equipment to do physical exercises at home. But, I'm trying to keep myself fit doing dynamic stretching, core exercises as per as our coaches’ instructions. Sometimes I go to the gym and run on the treadmill or do cycling.”
Mousumi also informed that the coaches are always keeping in touch with the players, and that they are trying to follow the instructions of their head coach Golam Rabbani Choton and others.
“Our coaches are instructing us. They have always been staying in touch with us. There is a WhatsApp group for Bangladesh women’s team. We all players and coaching staffs - head coach Choton sir, assistant coach Mahbubur Rahman Litu sir, two women coaches [Mahmuda Akter] Ananya madam and Suinu [Pru Marma] di - are the members of that group. BFF officials are also there,” said Mousumi.
“We discuss and talk to other each other twice or thrice a week. Besides, we submit our report on daily activities there.”
