Bangladesh Premier League players admitted that it is impossible to maintain full fitness by doing physical exercises at home, and sought some time to go back to normal fitness before the BPL resumes.
“It is not possible to maintain fitness from home. Field works can’t be done at home,” said Arambagh Krira Sangha defender Didarul Haque during a live Facebook chat with BPL players under the title, “BPL Players Adda.”
Other premier league footballers including Russel Mahmud Liton, Sakhawat Rony, Omar Faruk Babu and Rahmat Mia and Uttar Baridhara Club forward Mohammad Sumon Reza took part in the chat.
“Never spent such long break at home before. Trying to work out as much as possible but due to lack of space at home, it’s not possible to maintain full fitness,” said Babu, Lt. Sheikh Jamal Dhanmondi Club Limited midfielder.
“Football is not indoor game,” said Chittagong Abahani Limited’s former national striker Rony before adding, “It is possible to keep a level for two weeks, but when it crosses a month, it is not possible to carry on with same level.”
Rony also said their mental confidence level is decreasing day by day as the BPL has been suspended indefinitely for almost two months.
Jamal, the national football team captain, has decided to put one of his jerseys, that he wore against India during the 2022 World Cup and 2023 Asian Cup joint qualifying match in Kolkata last year, for auction to raise funds for the Covid-19 victims.https://t.co/Q8St4NjvI3#BFF

“How many times can we do work-outs from home? We want to go back to football as soon as possible,” said Saif Sporting Club’s national defender Rahmat.
“The level of breathing you need during a football game cannot be acquired fully from home. Training in field is a must,” said Reza.
“It is also difficult for a goalkeeper because diving at home is not possible. Hundred percent fitness is never possible at home,” said Rahmatganj Muslim Friends Society custodian Liton.
Ashraful Islam Rana, Sheikh Russel Krira Chakra’s national goalkeeper, wants BPL back as soon as possible as football provides them the only source of income.
The live chat, hosted by BFF media executive Khaled Mahmud, was also participated by Mohammedan Sporting Club Limited goalkeeper Mazharul Islam Himel, Abahani Limited striker Nabib Newaj Jibon, Brothers Union midfielder Faisal Mahmud, Bangladesh Muktijoddha Sangsad Krira Chakra’s Anik Ghosh and Police Football Club’s Mohammed Amirul Islam.
