BFF extends councilors deadline again

Bangladesh Football Federation (BFF) has extended the deadline for the submission of the names of delegates and councilors for BFF Election 2020 until April 30 due to Covid-19 pandemic.

It was the fourth time the BFF had to extend the deadline. The previous three deadlines were March 31, April 7 and April 16.

The BFF Elective Congress 2020, previously scheduled for April 20, has been postponed indefinitely at the end of last month. The coronavirus situation in the country has worsened since then.

While asked why the deadline for councilors is not suspended indefinitely, BFF general secretary Abu Nayeem Shohag said, “It’s one of the procedures of the election, it cannot be suspended indefinitely now. We decided to extend the deadline until April 30 due to the lockdown situation.”

A total of 140 councillors' votes are to decide who form the next 21-member executive committee of BFF. Shohag said they received the names of almost 90 percent councilors and waiting for the rest.
