Swadhin Bangla footballers named ambassadors of National Football

The Bangabandhu National Football Championship, organized by Bangladesh Football Federation with assistance from the District Football Associations, will have the Swadhin Bangla Football Team members as brand ambassadors.

The Swadhin Bangla Football Team members will be present at different venues across the country to inspire the young and talented footballers.

The decision came at a meeting at BFF House in Dhaka Saturday where football federation president Kazi Salahuddin was present along with the Swadhin Bangla Football Team members.

The Bangabandhu National Football Championship is all set to roll on the pitch after a gap of 14 years with the participation of 78 teams.

Along with 63 district football teams excluding only Kishoreganj, three service teams, six public universities, five education boards and Bangladesh Krira Shikkha Protishthan will be taking part in the meet that kicks off Friday.

The participating district teams have been divided into eight zones under the names of rivers – Padma, Meghna, Jamuna, Shitalakshya, Brahmaputra, Buriganga, Chitra and Surma.

The district teams will get Tk1,50,000 each as participation money while other teams will pocket Tk50,000 each.

The tournament, formerly known as Sher-e-Bangla National Football Championship, was last held in 2006, and has been named after Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman as part of the birth centenary celebrations of the Father of the Nation.
