Bangladesh U-16 girls begin China tour with narrow loss

The game was played in three halves; each comprising half an hour. According to reports from the BFF, the Bangladesh girls dominated the first two halves but when they substituted most of their starting XI players, they conceded the only goal of the game in the 75th minute. Ding Lei bagged the all-important goal due to a defensive mix up by the visiting side. Star Bangladesh forward Sirat Jahan Shopna failed to capitalise a golden opportunity in just the fourth minute. She squandered another chance in the 24th minute, despite being in a one-on-one situation with the opposition goalkeeper. Midfielder Monika Chakma created another opening from a Shopna cross in the second half but it was not just her day. It was learned that the home side kept close attention on Shopna throughout the match and marked her closely. The girls in red and green will play four more matches during their China tour. They will play their second friendly against Shaanxi Provincial U-15 team on Sunday afternoon.
