Lalmonirhat girls win U-16 Nat’l Football

The flood-affected Lalmonirhat district got some solace Saturday when its football team won the BFF-Unicef U-16 National Women’s Championship final round grand finale at Bir Sreshtha Shaheed Sipahi Mohammad Mostafa Kamal Stadium in Kamalapur, Dhaka.

The Lalmonirhat girls blanked Magura district 4-0 with hat-trick hero Liva Akter stealing the show.

Shantona Khatun scored the other goal for the winning side.

Lalmonirhat’s Moonki Akter claimed the player of the tournament award while her team mate Liva finished as the highest goal-scorer with 16 strikes.

Lalmonirhat goalkeeper Golapi Akter was named the best keeper while Rangamati district received the fair play award. The Khagrachhari venue was adjudged the best stadia of the first round.
