Bangladesh U-23 delivered an excellent performance to get a 2-0 victory over Sri Lanka U-23 during their AFC U23 Championship Group B game at the Khalifa Sports City Stadium, Isa Town, Bahrain Tuesday.
The first goal came in the fifth minute via forward Bipul Ahmed and the second goal came in the 18th minute via some enterprising and attacking football when Tutul Hossain Badshah netted home.
Although the team was previously eliminated after losing 1-0 against Bahrain and Palestine – two higher ranked teams – they have shown resilience and fighting spirit and earned plaudits of the coach Jamie Day.

Ahead of the match, he was confident that Bangladesh could deliver a win and his side did exactly that, with two first half goals to earn a commanding victory.
“We would like to finish with a win. The boys deserve to win. We will try to win the game. We have not won any game here. It will be very good if we get a win. But we have played very well in the first two games. We want another good performance and finish on a high,” said Day to journalists ahead of the match on Monday.
