Mohammedan Sporting Club Limited began their Bangladesh Premier League 2018-19 season with a last gasp 2-1 win over BJMC at Bangabandhu National Stadium in Dhaka Sunday.
Nigerian forward Kingsley Chigozie led the way for the Black and Whites with a brace.
BJMC however, began the game brighter of the two sides.
In the 15th minute, BJMC got their first opportunity but Mohammedan goalkeeper Khandakar Saad Ishtiaq parried away a shot from Nigerian midfielder Samson Illiasu.
Ten minutes later, BJMC were denied again as forward Abdullah al Mamun’s shot evaded the target.

In the 23rd minute, Mohammedan orchestrated their first real chance but Kingsley’s shot from a pass from Gambian midfielder Landing Darboe flew over the crossbar.
Kingsley though made no mistake heading Mohammedan ahead in the 34th minute from a Landing cross.
BJMC however, brought parity right before the end of the first half, when Uzbekistan midfielder Otabeke’s free-kick fooled the Mohammedan goalie before finding its way to the back of the net.
Otabeke could have given his side the lead in the 54th minute but his free-kick missed the target.
Mohammedan on the other hand missed a golden opportunity in the 70th minute when Landing’s free-kick was saved by BJMC netminder Abul Kashem Milon.

BJMC then suffered a setback in the 80th minute when they were reduced to 10 men; defender Baybeck Fombagne receiving his marching orders.
Mohammedan then scripted a few chances but all that was missing was the goal.
In injury time though, the Motijheel outfit grabbed the all-important goal when Kingsley headed home brilliantly from a cross from midfielder Kaisar Ali Rabbi.
Kingsley expressed delight after the game, saying, “I am happy after helping my team to their first win. Feeling really happy after scoring twice. Want to bring more wins for my team, and I desire to be the league’s highest goal-scorer.”
Mohammedan head coach Ali Asgar Nasir was also a happy man.
