Bangladesh girls qualified for the final of the Saff U-18 Championship after outclassing Bhutan 4-0 in the semi-final at Changlimithang Stadium in Thimphu Friday. In the process, the girls in red and green set up a final clash with Nepal, who beat India 3-1 on penalties after it ended 1-1 in normal time.
Sanjida Akhter gave Bangladesh the lead in just the second minute of the game while Mosammat Mishrat Jahan Mousumi made it 2-0 on the stroke of the opening half. Srimoti Krishna Rani Sarkar tripled the lead on the hour mark before Shamsunnahar completed the rout from the penalty spot four minutes from the final whistle.
Meanwhile in the other semi-final at the same venue earlier Friday, Nepal defeated India on penalties.Nepal went ahead in the 15th minute through Rashmi Kumari Ghising’s strike but India equalised in the 62nd minute. It was Nepal however, who prevailed in the tie-breaker.
The final will be held Sunday at the same venue. India meanwhile, will lock horns with Bhutan in the third-place decider on the same day.
