Confident U-18 girls beat Nepal 2-1, finish group champion

Bangladesh girls finished as Group B champion after edging Nepal 2-1 in their last group phase match of the Saff U-18 Championship at Changlimithang Stadium in Thimphu, Bhutan Tuesday. In the process, the girls in red and green set up a semi-final clash with host Bhutan, scheduled for Friday at the same venue.

In the other semi-final Friday, Group A champion India will lock horns with Nepal.

Bangladesh went ahead in the 16th minute with previous match’s star Mosammat Sirat Jahan Shopna getting her name on the scoresheet. Srimoti Krishna Rani Sarkar made it 2-0 in the 32nd minute before Rashmi reduced the arrears in the second minute of injury time in the second half.

Bangladesh began their campaign with a resounding 17-0 win over Pakistan Sunday.

The third place decider and final will be held Sunday.
