Inter back in for Darmian

Inter have made contact with Matteo Darmian's representatives and are ready to reignite a move for the Italian defender, according to Italian journalist Gianluca Di Marzio.

Napoli had hoped to seal a deal for the out-of-favour Manchester United full-back but Inter have complicated that move by re-entering the race to sign him.

Jesus signs five-year City contract extension

Manchester City striker Gabriel Jesus has signed a five-year contract extension with the Premier League champions.

Having arrived at the Etihad Stadium from Palmeiras in January 2017, the Brazil international has gone on to score 24 goals in 53 appearances in his first 18 months at the club.

The 21-year-old will now remain with Pep Guardiola's side until 2023 and was thrilled to commit his future to the club.

Man Utd warned against spending big

Manchester United have been warned against splashing the cash in the final days of the summer transfer window.

In an exclusive interview with Goal, Lou Macari has suggested that Jose Mourinho should work with what he's got, rather than following a spending model that he feels hasn't worked in recent years.  

Martial move ruled out by Bayern

Anthony Martial continues to see his Manchester United future called into question, but he will not be heading to Bayern Munich this summer.

Jose Mourinho has hinted that the France international could be offloaded, but Bundesliga champions Bayern have moved to distance themselves from links to the 22-year-old.

Amid suggestions that Martial could be acquired in a swap deal involving Jerome Boateng, Bayern CEO Karl-Heinz Rummenigge says the club have enough wingers.     

Milan join race for Kovacic

AC Milan have joined the list of admirers of Mateo Kovacic, reports Sport. The Real Madrid midfielder is in demand this summer, with Manchester United, Chelsea and Tottenham all credited with an interest, and Milan are now keen to lure him to Italy.

Man Utd goalkeeper Pereira leaves on loan

Manchester United goalkeeper Joel Pereira has joined Portuguese side Vitoria Setubal on a season-long loan, the club's official website has confirmed.

Pereira's current United deal runs until 2021 but he has yet to usurp current No.1 David De Gea, and will continue his development in Portugal.

Williams swaps Everton for Stoke

Stoke City have signed Ashley Williams on loan from Everton, as the Toffees continue to be linked with a move for Manchester United defender Marcos Rojo.

The 33-year-old, who has been with the Toffees since 2016, will now try to assist Stoke in their bid to win promotion to the Premier League following relegation in 2017-18.

Spurs open to offers for star trio

Tottenham are willing to listen to offers for Toby Alderweireld, Danny Rose and Mousa Dembele, claims Sky Sports.

England international left-back Rose has been linked with Manchester United in the past, while Alderweireld continues to spark talk of interest from Old Trafford.

His price tag has led the Red Devils to look elsewhere, as revealed by Goal, but he could still be on the move this summer alongside fellow Belgian Dembele.

Nzonzi nears Roma move

Sevilla midfielder Steven Nzonzi is closing in on a transfer to Roma, according to Le10Sport. The France international has been linked with Arsenal and Barcelona among others, after helping his country lift the World Cup this summer. 

But, having already agreed personal terms with Roma, the 29-year-old looks set to join the Serie A side in a €40 million (£36m/$46m) move.

Sarri will tell Hazard and Courtois they're going nowhere

The Chelsea boss is set to get tough with two of his side's biggest stars

Chelsea manager Maurizio Sarri will tell Eden Hazard and Thibaut Courtois they won't be sold, reports the Daily Mail. 

In talks set to be held on Friday the Italian will tell the duo, who have each been linked to Real Madrid, that the Blues are not prepared to sell. 

Chelsea have been unable to secure a replacement for Courtois, and have also been unimpressed by Madrid's £35 million ($46m) valuation of the goalkeeper. 

Bayern turn down Martial-Boateng swap

Bayern Munich have rejected a proposal from Manchester United to swap Anthony Martial and Jerome Boateng, claims Bild. 

Martial desires a move away from United, while Boateng is rumoured to be on the outs with Bayern.

But the Bundesliga champions won't exchange the centre-back for Martial due to the glut of wingers they already have. 

Modric can leave for €750 million : Perez

Real Madrid president Florentino Perez has said star midfielder Luka Modric will only leave the club for an astronomical sum of €750 million (£670m/$870m).

Modric has been rumoured to be in the sights of Inter, but Perez said the Serie A side must meet the 32-year-old's massive release clause.

Alderweireld set on Man Utd move

Tottenham defender Toby Alderweireld is set on a move to Manchester United, according to the Mirror. 

United have so far been unable to pry the Belgian away from London, with Spurs still demanding £75 million ($99m).

But Alderweireld can join United next summer for just £25m ($33m) if Spurs extend his contract, which expires in 2019.

Barcelona have agreed personal terms with Bayern Munich's Arturo Vidal, with the 31-year-old Chile midfielder set to cost the Spanish champions £27m. (Guardian)

Everton face competition to sign Manchester United centre-back Marcos Rojo with Paris St-Germain, Marseille and Zenit St Petersburg also interested in the 28-year-old Argentina international. (Sun)

Mawson joins promoted Fulham from Swansea

Defender Alfie Mawson joined Premier League Fulham from second-tier Swansea on a four-year deal worth a reported £15 million (16.8 million euros) on Thursday.

"I'm really happy to get this over the line and join Fulham," the 24-year-old told Fulham's official website.

"I'm excited by the project going on here and the football being played last season was lovely on the eye but also effective and I can't wait to be a part of it and get going."

Fulham returned to the Premier League via the play-offs last season and have recruited heavily in the hope of staying in the top flight.

Jean Michael Seri, Maxime Le Marchand, Fabri, Andre Schurrle and Aleksandar Mitrovic have all penned deals with the London club.

Japan forward Muto joins Newcastle from Mainz

Newcastle United announced they had completed the signing of Japan forward Yoshinori Muto from Bundesliga club Mainz after he was granted a work permit on Thursday.

Muto, who underwent a medical and agreed personal terms with the Magpies last week, has joined the Premier League club on a four-year deal.

The transfer fee is believed to be around 11 million euros (£9.8 million, $12.8 million).

Tianjin pour cold water on possible Witsel switch to Dortmund

Borussia Dortmund appear to have suffered a setback in their quest to sign Belgium midfielder Axel Witsel from Chinese club Tianjin Quanjian in the current transfer window.

Dortmund are reportedly eager to activate a 20-million-euro ($23.2m) buy-out clause in Witsel's contract, but Quanjian head coach Paulo Sousa poured cold water on a potential transfer with the World Cup star's deal to run until December 2019.

Quanjian owner Shu Yuhui echoed Sousa's stance in a later interview in the Tianjin media by saying "Witsel will return (to China) on August 5".

According to German media, Witsel is currently on holiday on the Spanish island of Ibiza and is reportedly eager to join Bundesliga side Dortmund, who have qualified for the Champions League for 2018/19.

Palace grab German midfielder Meyer on a free

Crystal Palace have signed German midfielder Max Meyer on a three-year deal after his contract at Schalke 04 expired, the Premier League club announced on Thursday.

Meyer, 22, is the south London team's third recruit in the transfer window after Vicente Guaita joined last month and Cheikhou Kouyate moved to Selhurst Park from West Ham United on Wednesday.

"I played at Selhurst Park last season for Schalke and the atmosphere was perfect, and I can't wait to experience the atmosphere for a Premier League game," said Meyer.

Meyer, who has played four times for Germany, came through the youth ranks at Schalke and scored 22 goals in 192 games for the club, including three Champions League campaigns. He helped them to finish runners-up in last season’s Bundesliga.

On the international stage, Meyer won a silver medal at the 2016 Olympics and was part of the 2017 European U21 Championship winning side. He made his senior Germany debut in 2014. 

West Ham add Silva to list of new recruits

West Ham United's busy transfer window continued as the Premier League club signed Portuguese forward Xande Silva from Vitoria de Guimaraes on Thursday.

The 21-year-old, who played 26 times in the Portuguese top flight last season, has signed a three-year contract.

Silva joins a host of new signings the club have made since Manuel Pellegrini took charge after the end of last season.

Winger Felipe Anderson joined from Lazio in a club record deal believed to be 36 million pounds ($47 million) and the club also splashed out a reported 22 million pounds on French defender Issa Diop.

West Ham have also signed Paraguay defender Fabian Balbuena, England midfielder Jack Wilshere, Ukraine winger Andriy Yarmolenko and Poland keeper Lukasz Fabianski during the summer transfer window. ($1 = 0.7678 pounds)
