BFF on verge of finalising new head coach

It has been half a month since Andrew Ord left the post of Bangladesh head coach, despite having two more months left in his contract. And ahead of the Saff Championship 2018, scheduled to be hosted by Bangladesh in September, the Bangladesh Football Federation is in quite a hurry to appoint a new head coach. Leaving all the rumours aside, the national team management committee chairman Kazi Nabil Ahmed hinted that they are close to filling the vacant post, and pledged to finalise the name of the new head coach within seven to 10 days. "The talks are ongoing with more than one coach. I believe we will come to an agreement with our new head coach within seven to 10 days. We have the trainer and other coaches and the national camp will continue this month," said Nabil during a press conference in Dhaka Wednesday.

When asked by a reporter whether there is any plan in place to arrange more practice and friendly matches ahead of the regional championship, Nabil, also the BFF vice president, replied, "Of course we have plans. We had programmes in Qatar, Thailand and Laos in the last two months. We are also working on the upcoming programmes, which we will reveal very soon. "We have fixtures in August, September and also in October. We have four months for preparation. The preparation will continue at home, and also abroad. We will reach an agreement with the new coach soon and the programmes will be finalised after discussions with the coach." The sudden departure of Ord has left the BFF in a dilemma with very little time left to the Saff Championship. However, BFF president Kazi Salahuddin Wednesday summed up the current scenario in light-hearted fashion. "An unhappy wife is not a good wife," said Salahuddin before adding, "If you are unhappy I can’t force it. The world is much bigger. One Ord has left, someone better would come, that's not an issue."
