Salahuddin unveiled as Saff boss

Kazi Salahuddin was officially announced as the president of the South Asian Football Federation for a record third time in a row during the Saff Congress at Pan Pacific Hotel Sonargaon in Dhaka Wednesday. Three vice presidents were also officially handed over the responsibility - Sri Lanka Football Federation president Anura de Silva, Pakistan Football Federation senior vice president Syed Khadim Ali Shah and All Nepal Football Association senior vice president Mani Kunwar. Bhutan Football Federation general secretary Uygen Wangchuk became the treasurer of the newly elected committee, which also includes seven members from as many South Asian countries.

Saff tournament calendar for the year 2018 was also revealed with five different tournaments scheduled to be held this year - Saff U-15 Women's Championship in August, Saff U-18 Women's Championship in August/September, Saff Championship in September, Saff U-15 Championship in November and Saff Women's Championship in December. With the exception of the much-awaited Saff Championship in Dhaka, the hosts of the other four tournaments are yet to be decided. Meanwhile, BFF chief Salahuddin, who was elected unopposed on each of the three occasions, left notable contributions in his eight-year tenure so far as south Asian football’s leader. A number of women's and youth tournaments were introduced during his reign. The first ever Saff Women's Championship was held during his first year. He also introduced the Saff U-16 Championship in 2011, Saff U-19 Championship in 2015 and Saff U-15 Women's Championship last year.
