Footballers Sabina, Krishna denied Indian visa

Bangladesh footballers Sabina Khatun and Srimoti Krishna Rani Sarkar will miss out on the start of the Indian Women's League 2018 for their club Shetu FC of Tamil Nadu after being denied the Indian visa. The Bangladesh booters were scheduled to join up with their side ahead of their opening game Tuesday.

Bangladesh Football Federation's women's committee chairman Mahfuza Akter Kiron said, "They need the permission of the Indian Ministry. Since it is out of our hands, we told their club to take steps. If they can arrange the visa, Sabina and Krishna will go, otherwise there is nothing else to do." Prolific goalscorer Sabina has previously featured in three seasons in the Maldives League, in the process becoming the first Bangladeshi woman booter to play in a foreign league. As for Krishna, she was awaiting her debut in a foreign league.
