During this period, Bangladesh girls emerged as the champion in three regional age-level tournaments - two U-14 competitions in Nepal and Tajikistan and an U-16 event at home. To add to that, the Bangladesh women footballers claimed the recently concluded Saff U-15 Championship at home and also reached the final of the Saff Championship in India earlier this year for the first time in history. Regarding the BOA's plan, BFF women's wing committee chairman Mahfuza Akter Kiron said, "This is obviously a great news. We wanted to send the girls to the Asian Games in the last edition. Bangladesh women's football is improving day by day. In order to keep on posting good performances, we need to play international matches regularly."
