Bangladesh under-14 football team emerged as the plate champion in the Super Mokh Cup beating Japanese side Shonan Bellmare 1-0 on Sunday.
Captain and central midfielder Fahim Murshed bagged the all-important goal, his third in the tournament, in the 32nd minute.
Bangladesh head coach Parvez deployed a 4-3-3 formation and the strategy paid off but his charges did miss a host of chances.
Bangladesh goalkeeper Emon Hawlader came to his side's rescue on a number of occasions, especially in the 21st minute when he saved a one-on-one opportunity. In total, the Japanese outfit got five corners and three free-kicks but failed to bring parity.
Following the end of the final, Parvez expressed delight, saying, “We are the plate champions. It feels good. I think it is a big achievement.”
Earlier in the tournament, the Bangladesh boys defeated English side Manchester City U-14 2-0 in the semi-final to confirmed their final berth.RESULTBangladesh U14 1 (Fahim 32) 0 Shonan Bellmare U14
