Bangladesh U-15 football team handed Bhutan a massive 8-0 defeat in the third-place deciding match of the inaugural Saff U-15 Championship at Halchowk Stadium in Kathmandu, Nepal on Sunday.
The junior Bengal Tigers in red and green, who were earlier ruled out of the title race after losing to host Nepal in the semi-finals, were more organised and aggressive in their last match of the event to register the tournament’s biggest margin of win, as well as third place.
In-form Miraj Molla and Raja Sheikh netted a brace apiece in the 29th and 58th and 20th and 46th minute respectively while striker Faysal Ahmed Fahim, Mohammad Akash, Yeasin Arafat and Arif Hossain added one each in the 18th, 69th, 79th and 90th minute.
Meanwhile, India clinched the title after beating Nepal 2-1 in the grand finale on the same day.
