Metro crushed by Dhaka force in NCL

Abdul Majid is slowly making his worth felt in the top class cricket as the right handed opening batsman smashed an unbeaten double hundred to take Dhaka division to a commanding position against Dhaka Metropolis in their second round game of the 16th National Cricket League yesterday.

The capital division declared having posted 525 for nine before their bowlers heaped further misery to Metro by cleaning them out for only 90 on the second day.

Meanwhile, national discards Imrul Kayes and Junaid Siddique registered centuries to give Khulna and Rajshahi the first innings lead over Barisal and Chittagong respectively while Sylhet still trail Rangpur by 176 runs as they were 191 for five at stumps.

Dhaka division v Dhaka Metro, Fatullah

Rony Talukder and Majid once again gave a flying start to Dhaka as both slammed hundreds to put on a record 314 for the first wicket.

Resuming the second day on 360/2, Majid went on to remain unbeaten on 253 having struck 26 fours and two sixes. 

Later, off spinner Shuvagata Hom and leg spinner Jubair Hossain shared nine wickets to dismiss Metro below 100. Shuvagata bagged 5/17 while Jubair ttok 4/23.

Khulna v Barisal, BKSP 2

Khulna tied Barisal to 271 before taking a 119-run lead having posted 390 in their first innings. Resuming the second day on 73/2, overnight batsman Imrul, who was on 11, went on and score 166 off 293 balls with 26 fours and three sixes. Off spinner Sohag Gazi returned to his wicket taking habit by grabbing five for 94 while Nasum Ahmed took three wickets along with Mosaddek Hossain’s two.

Chittagong v Rajshahi, SBNS

Junaid made 113 runs from 162 balls with 18 fours as Rajshahi posted 379/7 to pile up more pressure on Chittagong.  All rounder Mukhtar Ali remained unbeaten on 88 along with Sanjamul Islam 66 as Rajshahi’s will resume today with a lead of 170 runs. Iftekhar Sajjad bagged six wickets for Chittagong who made 109 in their first innings.

Rangpur v Sylhet, BKSP 3

Rangpur added 70 runs to their overnight score before they were all out for 367. Left arm spinner Enamul Haque bagged five wickets while Rahatul Ferdous took a couple Sylhet who were reeling at 45 for 4 in reply.

However, skipper Alok Kapali and Rumman Ahmed held the ship for the batting side as the pair added 103 runs in the fifth wicket to help Sylhet reach 191 for 5 at the end of the day’s play.

Rumman made 40 but Kapali remained unbeaten on 70 with Nazmul Hossain Milon not out on 31.

Left-arm pacer Sajedul Islam took two wickets while Shuvasish Roy, Ariful Haque and Mahmudul Hasan took a wicket each for Rangpur.
