Bangladesh Cricket Board’s first board meeting of this year will take place today at Radisson Hotel. The main agenda of the meeting will be the reshuffling of some of the chairmen of different committees. The BCB today will also appoint a new manager for the national side, informed Jalal Younus, chairman of the media committee, yesterday.
“There will be changes in some of the committees, that is for sure. But, we will get to know only after the meeting,” said Jalal.
According to sources, Akram Khan, chairman of the cricket operations committee, is likely to be replaced.
“We have quite a few agendas. Almost 18-19 issues are going to be discussed in tomorrow’s (today’s) meeting and the new manager of the World Cup squad is likely to be declared as well,” said Jalal. He added that the manager will be picked from inside the board.
It was learnt that two contenders – Khaled Mahmud and Naimur Rahman – will vie for the manager’s spot, ahead of the 2015 ICC World Cup. Some of the issues that will be discussed in today’s meeting include the Bangladesh Under-19 team’s tour of Sri Lanka and the development plans submitted by Ross Turner.
The names of the national pool cricketers for this year will also be finalised today. However, it was learnt that there are very few chances that the cricketers’ salary will be increased.
It was also learnt that 14 cricketers will be included in the new contract. Previously, 12 cricketers were under the pay scale of the BCB.
