It was another day of sheer dominance from Bangladesh as the Tigers have reached 270 runs without losing any wicket at the second session of the third test against visiting Zimbabwe in Chittagong on Wednesday.
There was plenty of action at the start of the first day's play. The players from Zimbabwe were sloppy with the ball and on the field as Tamin Iqbal made 109 runs while Imrul Kayes reached 129. This is the sixth test-match century of Tamim while second of Imrul.
Imrul Kayes 128 nad Maminul 24 are in the crease.
The openers looked in excellent touch right through the start of the innings before Sikandar Raza sent Tamim back to the pavilion at 109. Tamim was well assisted by Imrul Kayes as they have recorded the first instance of both openers scoring tons for the country in the same match as well.
The main feature of their partnership was the flurry of boundaries, which started from the very first over. Needless to say, they were helped by the visitors' attack which hardly tested them except for two half-hearted appeals.
Bangladesh have rattled off 126 runs in 29 overs after lunch.
Bangladesh captain Mushfiqur Rahim won his second successive toss and elected to bat. The hosts have made two changes in the XI that defeated the visiting team in the second test in Khulna to clinch the series 2-0. Imrul Kayes comes back into the team and is slotted in to open while Shahadat Hossain will not play either, with Shafiul Islam taking his place. For Zimbabwe, Malcolm Waller has been sidelined after being reported for a suspect action. Richmond Mutumbami has slotted in. Shingi Masakadza takes over Tendai Chatara's duties.
Having already won the series, the confident Tigers are looking to complete a historic whitewash in the third and final Test. The hosts have never won a series by a 3-0 margin and this is their best chance to achieve the goal. On the other hand, the visitors will be aiming to avoid a clean sweep.
