Walton, a concern of RB Group of Industries, has been named as the title-sponsor of the Dhaka Premier Division Cricket League (DPL) 2014-15 season which began yesterday. This is the third consecutive season Walton has been named as the sponsor of the premier 50-over tournament of the country.
A press conference and a signing ceremony were held in regards to the occasion at Sher-e-Bangla National Stadium yesterday. Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) CEO Nizamuddin Chowdhury, chairman of BCB’s marketing and commercial committee, Kazi Inam Ahmed, and RB Group operating director (creative and publication) Uday Hakim were present in the ceremony.
“We are happy to have Walton beside us once again. BCB is thankful for their contribution in cricket. To be honest we always find Walton next to us whenever we look for sponsors. I hope they will also keep their contribution in age-level and other tournaments,” said BCB director Kazi Inam.
On the other hand, Hakim thanked the BCB for allowing Walton to be the sponsor of the tournament for the third time in succession. “We will also try to contribute in age-level and other tournaments if BCB needs us,” said Hakim.
The worth of contract money between BCB and Walton was not revealed. However, it was learned that the latest deal is better than the previous season.
The 2014-15 season of DPL started yesterday with the participation of 12 Dhaka-based clubs.
