With a promise towards providing a breath of fresh air amidst the day-to-day corporate activities, the Marcel 4th Twenty20 Corporate Cricket Tournament comprising 28 renowned corporates of the country begins at the Residential Model School ground from November 14.
The organisers - Udaychal Club of Mohammadpur – are looking forward to hosting another successful edition after three worthy completions. The 28 teams have been split into seven groups containing four teams each with the seven group champions and runners-up sides going through to the round of 16 alongside the two best third-placed teams.
All the matches will be held at the Dhaka Residential Model School, Lalmatia School ground and Mohammadpur Eidgah ground. The champions will receive a purse of Tk100,000 while the runners-up side will pocket Tk50,000. AHM Mustafa Kamal, the Minister for Planning and the president of the International Cricket Council, will inaugurate the event as the chief guest.
The participating teams are - Philip Morris International, IFIC Bank, Europa Group, Marico Bangladesh Limited, Eastern Bank Limited, Beximco Pharmaceuticals Limited, Computer Source Limited, DBL Group, Anowara Group, Bangla Cat Limited, Walton, Apollo Hospitals Dhaka Limited, Nitol Motors Limited, Confidence Group, Runner Group, Reliance Insurance Limited, LM Ericsson, Okapia Mobile, Lankabangla Securities, Bando Design, Race Management, Robi, Energypac, Beximco Textile, Coca-Cola Bangladesh, Alif Group, Green Delta Insurance and IDLC Finance.
As the title sponsors Marcel will distribute a purse of Tk1m while the budget of the tournament has been set at Tk1.6m. Asems, the event management company of the tournament, has roped in Marcel as the title sponsors besides being able to tag in Oilio as the co-sponsor. Asian TV, Dhaka Tribune, Radio Dhaka FM 90.4, Bishwa Darpan and Risingbd.com are the media partners. Coca-Cola Bangladesh is the beverage partner while fragrance company Al-Haramain is the life-style partner of the tournament. Green Delta Insurance will work as the insurance partner.
The details of the tournament were presented to the media in a press conference held at the Bangladesh Olympic Association auditorium yesterday. Chief co-ordinator of the tournament, Abul Ahsan Ahmed, executive director Humayun Kabir, Walton additional director FM Iqbal bin Anwar Dawn, Green Delta Insurance Company Limited senior executive director Wafi SM Khan, head of marketing Monir Hossain and Marcel first assistant senior director Robiul Hasan Sumon were present on the occasion.
