National paceman Al Amin Hossain will fly to the United Kingdom on October 1 to undergo tests on his bowling action in Leicestershire after being reported by match officials following the first Test against the West Indies recently. The right-arm pacer’s tests will take place at the Loughborough National Cricket Performance Center on October 3.
Al Amin is likely to be accompanied during his short visit. Questions have recently been asked as to why Sohag Gazi left Dhaka yesterday all by himself to attend tests on his suspected bowling action in Cardiff, Wales.
In order to avoid such a scenario, the Bangladesh Cricket Board is all set to appoint a Bangladeshi expatriate living in England to look after Al Amin during his short stay.
Al Amin is the latest among several cricketers to be summoned for a suspect bowling action. The International Cricket Council has been clamping down on illegal bowling actions in recent times.
Pakistan spinner Saeed Ajmal was banned from international cricket last week after his deliveries were found to have exceeded the 15-degree level of tolerance permitted under the regulations.
Ajmal’s ban came hot on the heels of New Zealand’s part-time spinner Kane Williamson, Zimbabwean spinner Prosper Utseya and Sri Lanka’s Sachithra Senanayake also being reported for illegal bowling actions.
Meanwhile, Bangladesh paceman Rubel Hossain will come in for Al Amin in the final 15-man squad for the 17th Asian Games cricket tournament. Shakib al Hasan earlier replaced Gazi in the Asiad squad.
