Bangladesh A, U19 two-dayer ends in draw

Liton Kumar Das smashed a century while Nurul Hasan and Marshal Ayub posted half-centuries as Bangladesh A drew their two-day warm-up game against Bangladesh U-19 at the Sher-e-Bangla National stadium yesterday.

Replying to Bangladesh U-19’s first innings tally of 210-all out, Bangladesh A declared after registering 332/4 in 90 overs. Resuming the second and final day’s play on 21 without loss, Bangladesh A openers Liton and Shadman Islam (33) added a further 45 runs before the latter was dismissed by star all-rounder Shakib al Hasan who featured for Bangladesh U-19.

Liton was then joined at the crease by Marshal as the Bangladesh A duo kept on plundering the U-19 bowlers. Liton was unbeaten on 103 off 149 balls, blasting 16 fours and two sixes, before he retired to give the other batsmen the opportunity to bat in the warm-up game. Marshal on the other hand made 62 off 98 balls.

Bangladesh A skipper Naeem Islam remained undefeated on 39 while Nurul was not out on 67.

Later, Bangladesh U-19 came in to bat in their second innings and scored 62 runs for the loss of two wickets before the conclusion of the day’s proceedings. Shakib, who was out for 11 in the first innings, played a cameo later on in the day scoring a quickfire 44 off 34 balls, featuring half a dozen boundaries and a six before he was dismissed by Zubaer Likhon.
