Former Sri Lankan skipper, Kumar Sangakkara won the toss for the Tallawahs and elected to bat first. The opening duo couldn’t post much of a partnership as Sangakkara fell with just 14 runs on the scoreboard for his team, which was however, an improvement from his golden duck on the first match. Lendl Simmons and Andre McCarthy rallied, scoring 51 runs between themselves to take the Tallawahs to 65 in 10 overs. However, a triple wicket maiden for Trident's Wahab Riaz meant Shakib’s side was on the back foot again. Next up on the crease for the Tallawahs was Shakib who deftly defended the last two balls in the over that saw his side lose 3 wickets for no runs. Shakib and McCarthy helped keep their team's hopes up with their 84-run fifth-wicket stand. In the 19th over, Shakib went toe-to-toe with Wahab. A length ball at the start was hit over long-off for six, before Shakib charged in to pull a short ball over wide long-on for four. Wahab tried to go full with the next delivery and Shakib replied by walking across to paddle through fine leg for four runs. The left-hander put on a show as he scored 44 runs off 32 balls, smashing five boundaries and a six, remaining undefeated as he took the Tallawahs to 154. Shakib Al Hasan conceded 28 runs and got a wicket, Imad Wasim took one for 20 as Mohammad Sami put quite on a display, taking 1 wicket and giving just 12 runs in his 4 overs. Kieron Pollard, captain of the Tridents attempted to mount a comeback as he finished strong, scoring 62 off of 32 balls, as the Tridents were faltering.
