Bangladesh fast bowler Al Amin Hossain thinks their batsmen need to be more concrete in facing the opponent bowlers in the initial overs.
Bangladesh lost the opening game of the three-match series against India via D/L despite scoring 272 runs and Al Amin pointed the difference in the aggression between the home side batsmen and the visitors. Openers Tamim Iqbal and Anamul Haque struggled to handle the Indian pace attack while Robin Uthappa and Ajinkya Rahane dominated the Tigers attack with ease.
“They (Indian batsmen) charged us (Bangladesh bowlers) whenever we delivered a good bowl. This helps a batsman gain confidence and put pressure on the bowler and when a batsman plays slow, the bowler starts charging and it becomes easy to take down a wicket,” said Al Amin to the media at Sher-e-Bangla National Stadium yesterday.
“Whenever me or Mashrafe (bin Mortaza) delivered a good delivery in the game yesterday (Sunday), their batsmen tried for a boundary in the very next ball,” he added.
The seven-wicket defeat, however, is not the end of the series and with two matches remaining, the 24-year-old said they are determined to bounce back in the second ODI today.
