The National Cricket League 2013-14 season will resume from April 12, informed that Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) president Nazmul Hasan.
The BCB held an urgent meeting yesterday to discuss few pending issues among which the resuming of the NCL that was suspended for hosting the ICC World Twenty20 2014 was discussed.
“This was the first time that Bangladesh arranged the so many matches of a world event. The venues were occupied thus we had to suspend the National Cricket League in the middle of the season. But we have locked the date now and the tournament will resume from April 12,” informed Nazmul to the media.
The BCB boss further informed that the domestic calendar was also discussed in the meeting. “We also looked into the opportunities of holding the other tournaments like Dhaka Premier League and other. The CCDM (Cricket Committee of Dhaka Metropolis) will soon have a meeting with the clubs and avail the board with a tentative plan of when the tournament can be held keeping in mind that the monsoon is also approaching. We have any facilities now so arranging the tournament should not be a problem,” said Nazmul.
The BCB holding an urgent meeting in between the ICC World Twenty20 had raised many eyebrows, but Nazmul informed that the meeting was held as he will be away for a week attending the ICC and IDI meeting and there were pending issues which needed to be solved before he left of April 7.
Nazmul informed that those involved with hosting the Chittagong and Sylhet phase of the ICC World Twenty20 was thanked for doing a successful job. “World Cup has finished in Sylhet and Chittagong. We thanked those responsible of the Sylhet and the Chittagong phase for putting up a successful show.
“I went to Cox’s Bazar and Sylhet with the ICC president (Alan Issac) few days ago. He was full of appreciation of the arrangements. He actually never thought that the arrangements will be so fine here. He was more surprised to see the turn-up in the stadium during the women’s play-off games,” informed Nazmul.
The ICC World Twenty20 will come to an end with the final game between India and Sri Lanka at Sher-e-Bangla National Stadium today. Nazmul informed that the preparation for the final show was also discussed in the meeting to make sure nothing unpleasant happens.
