Charlotte praises Bangladesh

One of the matured women cricketers of current time England captain Charlotte Edwards led her side to 79-run victory against Bangladesh with a 69-ball 80 that illustrated little of her belligerent playing style.

However she praised the newest member of the family, Bangladesh, and admired their approach in the field.

“They (Bangladesh) played brilliantly today (Friday). They bowled extremely well in the first 15 overs. I think their weaker point is batting but their bowling and fielding was impressive,” said Charlotte.

Charlotte has been the face of English women’s cricket for over a decade now and the 34-year-old is the only female cricketer in the ongoing World Twenty20 to be born in the late 70’s.

She is one of the very few female cricketers who have been honoured with a Member of the Order of the British Empire (MBE) that she achieved in 2009 for her service to cricket after making her international debut in 1995 at the age of only 16, the then youngest woman to play for England.

Out of many personal records, Charlotte is the leading run-scorer in T20Is and ODIs history. She has played 72 out of England’s 76 T20Is, the most played by any cricketer.

Edwards was looking forward to their next game against Sri Lanka on Sunday and said, “We are getting better in every game. I have played lot of World Cup and winning trophy is about clicking at the right time. We prove today that we are getting better and we want to play better against Sri Lanka.”
