Steyn remains cool and composed

Dale Steyn, the spearhead of South Africa’s pace attack hinted that South Africa would be unchanged in the game against Netherlands today. The number one ranked Test bowler opined that a winning combination usually remains unchanged.

“No, I don’t know. I don’t think so. Personally, I don’t like to change a winning combination or a winning formula. So no real reason to change a side. If the coaches and players feel differently,it depends on them”, said Steyn at Zahur Ahmed Chowdhury Stadium in the pre-match press conference yesterday.

Steyn gunned down New Zealand to give the Proteas their first win of the tournament in their previous game. The speedster thought that they (New Zealand) could have won the game. “But we did and it’s a bonus for us”, said the 30-year-old from Phalaborwa.

He further talked about the influence of South Africa’slegendary fast bowler Alan Donaldon him, especially regarding dealing with pressure in the death overs.

“I think AD (Alan Donald) will be the first one to tell you that he didn’t play much T20.Although his expertise regarding the T20 is not very high but he still played a lot of international cricket. So he knows about handling pressure and gives us expert advice”, affirmed Steyn.

The Chittagong phase of the world-event will resume after two days of break with the game between South Africa and Netherlands in the afternoon. When enquired about how hepassed time during this short break, Steyn informed that they hardly had anything to do and tasted only pizzas from across the road adjacent to their team’s hotel in Chittagong.

“We have got a wine club (in the hotel), nothing special. We just have some fun.  We have got a big team room in the hotel. We play poker. We also have a movie club, we watch movies and all. There is pizza across the road and we just order. We don’t get to go out as much. Never eaten so much pizza in my whole life”,saidSteyn.
