Pakistan women beat Bangladesh

Pakistan women’s team defeated Bangladesh women by five runs in a World Twenty20 warm-up match at the BKSP 3 ground in Savar yesterday. Pakistan were bowled out for 81 runs in 19.5 overs, which proved to be a bit too much for the hosts as they could only put on a total of 76 for 6.

The home side decided to field first after winning the toss and enjoyed a perfect start, taking four wickets for only 14 runs. Nahida Khan and skipper Sana Mir came to the rescue, scoring 30 and 18 respectively. Bangladesh captain Salma Khatun picked up three while Jahanara Alam and Fahima Khatun took two each.

In reply, three out of top four Bangladesh batsmen returned to pavilion without adding a single run. Opener Ayasha Rahman tried to stay against the flow and scored innings’ highest 28 off 45 balls. Wicketkeeper Nuzhat Tasnia and Fargana Hoque added 21 and 14 respectively but couldn’t reach the target despite using every delivery of the 20 overs. Asmavia Iqbal bagged three and Anam Amin took two for Pakistan.
