Pakistani born Haseeb Amjad bagged six wickets as Hong Kong have risen as the dark horse among the ICC World Twenty first round teams. After defeating Test playing nation Zimbabwe, they anchored their second consecutive win in the warm-up games this time by beating Netherlands by 27 runs at Chittagong yesterday.
Riding on 19-year-old Mark Chapman’s 40-ball 50 Hong Kong made a modest 127 before getting bowled out with a ball left in their innings. However, the score was more than enough as 26-year-old right-arm fast bowler Amjad demolished the Dutch batting by claiming six for 21 off just 3.1 overs.
Stephan Myburgh made a quick fire 38-ball 52 that contained three fours and as much sixes, but with no real support from the other end Netherlands was all out for 100 in just 16.5 overs.
Meanwhile at Fatullah, it was a complete team effort from United Arab Emirates (UAE) that enabled them to land a six-wicket win over Nepal in their ICC World Twenty20 warm-up game. They bowled out Nepal for a paltry 95 runs in their allotted 20 overs, before reaching 99 for four in 18.5 overs.
Despite been reduced to 34 for three, the small target was made easier with the 48-run fourth wicket partnership between Swapnil Patil and Shaiman Anwar. Patil was dismissed after making 33 with UAE 13 runs away from victory. Shaiman remained not out on 30 from 34 balls to secure the win over their weaker opponent.
Earlier, Nepal opener Subash Khakurel (28), captain Paras Khadka (27) and Basant Regmi (10) were the only batsmen to reach double figures as they lost wickets in regular intervals to get bowled out below 100.
