Bangladesh national cricket team will brace themselves for their first ODI series of the year when the Tigers take on Afghanistan in the three match series starting from September 25.
The Afghanistan troop are scheduled to arrive Dhaka on Wednesday after conducting a training camp in India. They will start the tour with a practice match against the BCB XI on September 23 at Fatullah.
The selection panel comprising coach Chandika Hathurusingha along with the three selectors have already chalked out the squad from the twenty-member pool which was announced earlier for the Afghanistan and England series.
However, the Tigers will be missing their most successful fast bowler in the recent times Mustafizur Rahman after the paceman had undergone a shoulder surgery last month and the selectors are likely to pick pacer Shafiul Islam - who played his last ODI two years back in 2014 against Zimbabwe.
Left arm spinner Mosharraf Hossain is another one who is likely to make a comeback in international arena after eight years as the 34-year-old had a terrific domestic season and caught the eyes of the coach in the recent practice matches.
Youngster Mosaddek Hossain is almost confirmed to make his ODI debut in the upcoming series against Afghanistan after performing heavily in the Dhaka Premier League for champions Abahani Limited this season and became an obvious choice for the selectors.
Meanwhile, the selectors will be waiting for the result of the bowling action test of fast bowler Taskin Ahmed which the BCB is expected to receive by tomorrow. Rubel Hossain is likely to get a call in the side after he played his last international game against South Africa in 2015.
Apart from that, there will be no major changes in the Tigers squad where skipper Mashrafe bin Mortaza and his troop will look to continue their brilliant run in the fifty over format nearly after a year.Bangladesh (probable) squad for Afghanistan series: Tamim Iqbal Khan, Soumya Sarkar, Mashrafe bin Mortaza, Imrul Kayes, Taskin Ahmed, Mossadek Hossain Saikot, Rubel Hossain, Shakib al Hasan, Mahmudullah, Nasir Hossain, Mosharraf Hossain Rubel, Mushfiqur Rahim, Sabbir Rahman, Al-Amin Hossain, Shafiul Islam
